Membership
Do you enjoy singing in a large choir, performing major choral works?
Would you like to perform in the wonderful setting of Hereford Cathedral?
Then why not see about joining a choir that has an excellent reputation for quality performances?
There is a simple voice test for potential members, and once you've passed, you're in! Geraint Bowen, who is the Director of Music and Organist at Hereford Cathedral, conducts the Choral Society. The programme for the concerts is always varied and exciting. Click for details of past and forthcoming performances.
Rehearsals are every week on Monday evenings between September and March, normally in the Zimmerman Building of Hereford Cathedral School, Church Street, Hereford between 7.30pm and 9.15pm. Music is provided free of charge for most concerts. The cathedral's Assistant Organist, Peter Dyke, accompanies rehearsals.
The membership fee for the 2007/8 season is £70, with concessions for under 25's. For taxpayers, there is the opportunity to gift-aid the membership fee to benefit the Choral Society even further.
If you interested in joining us, please contact Dora Parry, Membership Secretary on 01432 269454, or send her an email. Do come along to find out what it's like to sing in a big choir – we have 180 regular members!
Open Rehearsal
Each September, usually on the third Monday, we hold our annual Open Rehearsal from 7.30pm – 9.15pm. At this rehearsal we welcome singers who are not currently members of the Society and would like to experience singing in the choir.
If you would like to come along, you will need to book a place so we can ensure there are enough copies of the music to enable you to join in. Please contact Dora Parry on 01432 269454, or click to email her.
