Open rehearsal

Hereford Choral Society is looking for enthusiastic new members to perform major choral works with orchestra in the inspiring setting of Hereford Cathedral.

If you can read music and fancy giving it a try, there is an open rehearsal on Monday 19 September 2011. This will take place between 7.30 and 9.15pm in the Zimmerman Building at Hereford Cathedral School, Church Street, Hereford. The Society will be rehearsing Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle for its November concert, and would be delighted to welcome as many new people as possible – particularly tenors.

The season ends with a spectacular gala concert on 17 March 2012 when Verdi’s Requiem will be performed with The Philharmonia Orchestra to mark the beginning of the celebrations of Hereford Choral Society’s 175th anniversary year.  Why not book your place on the platform now?

Singers wishing to come to the open rehearsal are asked to email or ring Dora Parry, Membership Secretary on 0845 46 33 104 to reserve a place so that there are enough copies of the music to enable them to join in.  Auditions for singers interested in going further will be on Saturday, 24 September 2011.

The society’s conductor, Geraint Bowen, who is director of music at Hereford Cathedral, said: ‘The programme for our concerts is always varied and exciting. But our concerts are only half the story and we have lively, hard-working rehearsals each Monday evening between September and March near to the cathedral.’
